Tips and tricks on how to get the games optimised on Spigo
Here you can read about how you get most out of the games on Spigo. Maybe you can't get the games to load, maybe errors occur in the games, or maybe they do not work as good as they could do, because of a wrong configurement on your computer. This page trys to rectify these things.

For a guide on how to use the individual games, rules and explainations on how to play etc., you have to look under the involved game you wish to obtain help for and click on "Instructions".

Always get the newest version of Java
All the games on Spigo are made with a programme that is called Java. If you would like to read more about this programme and the technology behind it, please go to www.java.com/en/about/.

Java makes it possible to play games directly in your browser. Before you can play the games on Spigo you have to have Java installed on your computer. We advise that you use the newest version of Java all the time. We adapt all the games all the time to perform at their best with the latest version of Java. At the bottom of the homepage on Spigo you can find a link "Download Java" that leads you directly to the homepage from where Java can be downloaded from.

Close all open browser windows
A quite good trick when you start a game is to first close ALL open browser windows. After this Java shuts down and is started up again when you login to Spigo and open a new game. That releases a lot of resources to Java so that the games can run optimally. You can see that Java is shut down when the small Java coffee cup icon in the process line has gone. The icon turns up again once you start a game.

The same is valid if a game does not load, which as a rule, is due to the fact that Java is not up to date. If you close all browser windows and login on Spigo and reload a game, Java checks for a new version of the game. This doesn't happen unless all browser windows have been closed down.

Close other programs
If you have a slow computer it can help to close other programmes that are open. This should not be necessary if you have a fairly fast computer. Note however, that some programmes and homepages that are open from time to time can take up all resources which can again cause problems to the games because they have lower priority.

See the contents in the Java console (technically)
If you experience an error and suspect it to be a serious one in either the game or Java, you can look "into the stomach" of Java by looking in the Java console. The Java console is shown by right-clicking on the small Java icon which shows in the process line when Java has started up. In the menu that results from a right-click, choose "Open console". Here, and only here, critical Java errors and unforeseen errors in the games are printed. As a rule it shows exactly where the error has occured and it is therefore an enormous help for the developers of the games to see this. This can be sent in via customer service and a developer will look at it.

However it has to be mentioned that Spigo uses a system that automatically reports errors to Spigo. This is only specific Java related information and no personal information about our users.
